Tutaro ("we", "us", or "our") is a language learning platform that provides voice and writing practice powered by AI. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our service.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and profile image. If you sign up through a third-party provider (for example, Google), we receive basic profile information from that provider.
Learning Preferences
We store your language learning settings, including your target language, native language, audio preferences (volume, input gain, text-to-speech voice), and display theme.
Practice Session Data
When you use voice or writing practice, we collect the content of your sessions, including conversation transcripts, written messages, and AI-generated feedback such as pronunciation notes, grammar corrections, vocabulary suggestions, and overall assessments.
Flashcards and Study Data
We store flashcards you create (words, pronunciations, meanings, and example sentences) along with spaced repetition data such as review intervals, ease factors, and review history.
Payment Information
Payment processing is handled by Stripe. We store your Stripe customer ID and subscription details (plan, status, billing period). We do not store your credit card number or full payment details directly - these are held securely by Stripe.
Usage and Credit Data
We track your voice session credit usage, including granted, reserved, consumed, and expired credits, to manage your account balance and billing.
Technical Data
When you use Tutaro, we automatically collect your IP address, browser user agent, and session tokens for authentication and security purposes.

3. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services that may process your data:
- OpenAI - powers voice conversations and writing feedback. Session transcripts and written content are sent to OpenAI for processing. See OpenAI's Privacy Policy.

- Resend - delivers transactional emails. See Resend's Privacy Policy.
4. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Practice session data (transcripts, feedback, and analysis) is kept to allow you to review your learning history. If you delete your account, all associated data is permanently removed from our systems.
5. Data Security
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure session management, and hashed passwords. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
